About Jyn-San

I've been a hair and makeup artist for over twenty years, working across film, television, advertising, editorial and theatre before focusing on weddings and private clients. My work has appeared in press campaigns, magazines, books, brochures and on stage, for clients ranging from photographers and advertising agencies to theatre companies.

It started with my gran. In the school holidays she'd sit me down and ask me to cut and style her hair, and I've never really stopped.

I trained with Toni & Guy in London in editorial hair and advanced cutting, and at the Greasepaint School of Hair and Makeup in television, film and special effects. I've always had a keen interest in art and design, and I'm constantly exploring past and present trends in my work.

What this means for you

Twenty years on set means I'm calm under pressure, quick when the morning runs late, and used to making people look their best in front of a camera. I've worked with every skin tone and hair texture, including Afro, curly and Asian hair, and I carry the products to match. My approach is to bring out the best in you rather than paint someone new. You won't feel like you're wearing a mask, and your look will still be there at the end of the night.

Where I work

I'm based in Sheffield and travel across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the Peak District, including Rotherham, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Leeds. I see clients at there home for trials, lessons and occasion styling, and come to you on the wedding day. In my spare time I'm inspired by long walks in the countryside, listening to music and making art at home.
